From the same team that brought you the successful and popular West End Stories and Edinburgh’s Georgian Shadows Walking Tours – we invite you to enjoy Tall Tales, a brand new walking tour by qualified STGA Blue Badge Guides in Edinburgh’s beautiful city centre, looking at the amazing and sometimes controversial stories behind some of the iconic statues of this fascinating World Heritage City.
Public monuments are part of public art for all to see, to gaze at and to reflect on but how and why do we view these past monuments differently today? Come with us to discover more about these tall, often larger-than-life personalities represented in bronze, lead and stone, from intellectual giants such as David Hume and Adam Smith to the famous 19th century explorer David Livingstone to local heroes like James Braidwood, the founder of the world’s first municipal fire brigade. Our Tall Tales walking tours are ideal for local residents and visitors alike. Find out how some of Edinburgh’s most influential citizens contributed to the history and development of Scotland on the international stage.
